One Million Annealed Spring-Steel Link Cartridges in Six Weeks
Table of Contents

A prime contractor feeding ammunition-handling systems ordered a million annealed spring-steel link cartridges against a six-to-eight-week window, to a mil-spec print they could not move on. Every dimension called out was a feed-clearance dimension; a bad batch jams the mechanism downstream.
Formed strip steel is a springback game, so we set the forming radii in the die and verified on our own metrology rather than guessing against the strip lot. Material ASTM-A684 1047 annealed, 1.0 mm, tooled in-house from the customer print.
Outcome
- 1,000,000 cartridges designed, tooled, built, and shipped inside the 6–8 week commitment
- Tightest tolerance ±0.005 mm, verified on vision projectors (±0.002 mm capability) per lot
- Full traceability documentation with each shipment
- Repeat orders on rolling six-week slots once the die family was proven
