Five Presses Relocated: Restoring a Broken Production Cycle in Weeks
Table of Contents

During the supply disruptions of 2020, a large electrical-assemblies manufacturer lost its stamping route: the incumbent supplier's machines were old, technical problems stacked up, and the production cycle stalled with the customer's own tooling sitting on their floor.
They asked us to take the tooling and the presses. Five press machines were relocated onto our site — a project that is really logistics plus metrology. We ran a full risk assessment and machine condition report before anything moved, then production trials and measurement reports before first shipment, so the customer saw numbers before volume.
Outcome
- Production cycle restored in a matter of weeks, not months — trials and measurement reports issued before ramp
- Five presses relocated, tooling re-committed on more modern machines with better stroke control
- Efficiency improved versus the previous route (volume requirements met without overtime surcharge)
- Ongoing: medium- and long-term machine roadmap agreed with the customer
Our own transfer capability: 43 injection + 21 high-speed press fleet, 30 machining centers in the tool room, so customer tooling can be repaired and re-cut here instead of being sent to a third party.
The scale to read into those outcomes: this program runs inside our regular high-volume band — annual releases measured in millions of pieces, shipped on a weekly pull, with PPAP-level dimensional reports on every lot. The relocation itself happened in weeks; the production rhythm it restored is measured in years.
